Uruguay’s Banca de Quinielas warns of fake online casino ads using its name on Facebook and Instagram
Banca de Quinielas de Uruguay has issued an urgent warning after spotting fraudulent ads on Facebook and Instagram that misuse its name, logo, point-of-sale images, and visual identity to push a fake online casino. For PSPs and operators, the useful part is simple: the scam relies on brand impersonation, fake bonuses, and malicious links to move users toward unlicensed gambling sites.
- The misleading posts promote what they call “La Banca Casino” and use fake welcome bonuses, supposed multimillion jackpots, and fabricated winner testimonials to make the offer look legitimate. According to the operator, these messages are not official communications and are part of an explicit attempt at computer fraud.
- The traffic is being pushed through digital platforms, specifically Facebook and Instagram, with links designed to redirect users to clandestine betting sites. In practice, that means the fraud chain is not just brand abuse; it is also a funnel into illegal payment activity and possible data theft.
- Banca de Quinielas linked the warning to its institutional campaign “Al juego ilegal le decimos: NO HAY CHANCE,” which it uses to explain the risks of unregulated sites and the tactics illegal platforms use to capture users fraudulently. For anyone running payments in a high-risk vertical, this is the familiar problem of lookalike branding meeting weak user verification.
- The operator said the only authorized channels for operations and inquiries are labanca.com.uy, supermatch.com.uy, and eraspadita.com.uy. It also warned users not to download apps, enter personal or banking data, or make transfers on platforms outside those official domains.
- Users who may have shared sensitive information on the fake sites were told to contact their bank immediately to block credentials and file a complaint. For reporting illegal gambling platforms in Uruguay, the Dirección Nacional de Loterías y Quinielas (DNLQ) provides a free hotline: 0800 5683.
Banca de Quinielas also said it is actively engaging with technology companies and the relevant authorities to demand immediate removal of the fraudulent content. For licensed operators, that matters because the first response to this kind of campaign is usually not payment-side; it is takedown pressure, domain control, and keeping users away from the fake checkout flow.
