Inter Pag picks ACI Worldwide for intelligent payment orchestration in Brazil

ACI Worldwide and Inter Pag, Banco Inter’s merchant acquiring arm, have announced a strategic partnership to support Inter Pag’s next phase of growth in Brazil. The point here is practical: Brazil’s payment mix is changing fast, and acquirers need infrastructure that can handle higher volumes, more payment methods, tighter fraud controls, and faster product rollout.

  1. Inter Pag selected the ACI Acquiring Platform, including card issuing and administration capabilities powered by RS2, based on the strategic partnership ACI and RS2 launched in Brazil in 2024. Inter Pag said the platform will support simplification of operations, more flexibility, stronger resilience, and faster delivery of new payment services.
  2. The acquiring division serves more than 100,000 small and medium-sized businesses across Brazil. That matters because Inter Pag is not buying infrastructure for a niche use case; it is trying to support a broad merchant base as digital payment volumes and merchant expectations keep rising.
  3. The platform bundle combines cloud-based acquiring, payment intelligence, AI-driven fraud prevention, analytics, advanced e-commerce tools, and orchestration. In plain English: the stack is meant to help Inter Pag make more decisions in real time, rather than bolting together separate systems after the fact.
  4. Brazil is now one of the fastest-growing and most innovative digital payments markets in the world, according to the announcement. Pix, launched in 2020, has grown to almost 170 million users and accounted for 54.7% of all payment transactions in the second half of 2025.
  5. As Pix and other alternative payment methods gain share, acquirers face pressure to modernize infrastructure for new payment experiences, higher transaction volumes, stricter fraud controls, and faster innovation. That is the business case behind this deal, and it is exactly the kind of pressure high-risk payment providers are watching in Brazil.
