Binance reopens Bitcoin withdrawals in phase one after $6.3 billion hack
Payments High Risk

Binance says it has started reopening withdrawals in phases after a hack of about $6.3 billion in funds. For high-risk payment flows, the useful detail is not just that withdrawals are back, but that the exchange is restoring assets network by network, with congestion and delays expected during the rollout.
Binance said the first network reopened in phase one of withdrawals is the $BTC Bitcoin network. The exchange had suspended user withdrawals after the attack on Thursday, which the FBI blamed on North Korean operatives.
In an earlier X announcement on Sunday, Binance said withdrawal services would return in phases and would be progressively available. The company said updates will be posted on its official X channel.
Binance said it is prioritizing tokens based on “the past week data of user demand,” so each network and asset pair can be restored only after stability and security checks are completed. Users were told to check the withdrawal page for their selected asset and network, or the Binance network status page, to confirm availability.
During the phased rollout, Binance said users should expect some congestion, longer processing times and temporary delays. If a withdrawal is not successful, the company said users should try again after a short while.
Cointelegraph reported on Saturday that Binance had replenished 90% of the assets stolen in the hack, up from 80% a day earlier, and remained on track to resume withdrawals on Sunday.
