OKX and Mastercard Launch Stablecoin Card in Most U.S. States
OKX has rolled out its Mastercard-powered virtual card, OKX Card, to eligible customers in most U.S. states and select territories. For high-risk merchants and PSPs, the detail that matters is simple: it lets cardholders spend USDC, USDT and USDG directly from OKX Pay without first moving funds into fiat.
- The OKX Card can now be activated in the OKX app in the U.S. and added to Apple Pay or Google Pay. According to the company’s Monday, Nov. 2 press release, the card is available to eligible customers in most U.S. states and select territories.
- Cardholders can make purchases anywhere Mastercard is accepted using stablecoins held in their OKX Pay wallet. OKX said the card supports USDC, USDT and USDG, and that customers do not need to convert funds into fiat or move them into a separate balance before spending.
- The release says there are no transaction fees or foreign exchange fees. Customers can also choose Autopay to earn cashback on eligible USDG purchases, while USDG balances held on OKX Pay can earn yield between purchases.
- The U.S. launch follows earlier rollouts in selected markets in Europe, South Asia and Africa. OKX launched the OKX Card in the European Economic Area (EEA) in January, then in selected South Asian countries and selected African countries in July.
- Mastercard announced its partnership with OKX in April 2025 to support stablecoin transactions for consumers and merchants through the card. In August, OKX said adoption of the card in the EEA had accelerated sharply, with OKX Europe CEO Erald Ghoos saying customers appeared to be using the card more for everyday utility than for crypto-market-driven spending.
That last point is the part providers will care about: the product is being framed not as a trading gimmick, but as a payments rail for everyday spend. OKX’s own pitch is that stablecoins are already being used to hold value, and the missing piece was a straightforward way to spend them without extra conversion steps.
