Duel crypto casino faces Texas lawsuit, Finnish scrutiny, and payout complaints as shutdown talk circulates
Crypto casino operator Duel is being hit from several sides at once: a Texas lawsuit from X over alleged bribery attempts, complaints from players and Finnish authorities over withdrawals and fair-play rules, and growing chatter among partners that the business is running into financial trouble. For PSPs and other high-risk payment players, the useful bit is simple: once a brand is fighting access problems, license issues, and unpaid partners at the same time, settlement risk stops being theoretical.
- X has sued Duel and its founder in Texas, saying the operator repeatedly tried to bribe X staff to get inside information and unlock the platform accounts it wanted restored. According to the lawsuit, the bribery effort started in 2024 and peaked in 2025, when Duel employees allegedly offered X staff up to $300,000 for unblocking Duel accounts.
- As the case unfolded, the X accounts of several Duel representatives were blocked. That kind of account restriction matters operationally: for a high-risk operator, losing access to a major social platform is not just a PR issue, it can cut off one of the few channels available for player communication and traffic management.
- Players and Finnish authorities are accusing the platform of violating fair-play rules and of fraud when players tried to withdraw funds. The operator is drawing particular attention in Finland because it is reportedly operating without a license while the country moves toward liberalizing its gambling market.
- There are also unconfirmed reports that a case could be opened in Finland against Duel’s founder. The source does not provide a court filing or official comment, so that part remains an allegation rather than a confirmed enforcement action.
- Partners and affiliates say Duel has made large non-payments, and they suspect the operator is under financial strain from regulatory and legal pressure. In parallel, people on X are speculating that Duel could stop operating as soon as 2027.
