Influencer Buzeira Released From a São Paulo State Prison After 10 Months, as Federal Case Ties Him to Betting and Crypto Flows
Brazilian influencer Buzeira was released from the CDP de Caiuá, in the interior of São Paulo, after 10 months in custody, following a federal court order granting provisional liberty. For high-risk payment operators, the interesting part is not the celebrity angle; it is the case file, which links him to alleged money laundering, foreign-exchange evasion, offshore structures, and cryptocurrency movements tied to betting brands.
- The Secretaria da Administração Penitenciária (SAP) confirmed to g1 that Buzeira was released under a alvará de soltura after the Justiça Federal granted him provisional release. His lawyer, Jonas Reis, said on social media that the paperwork for the release had already been completed and that the last step was the electronic ankle bracelet test, which arrived from Presidente Prudente (SP).
- According to Reis, the internal procedures for release had been completed, and the delay was only for the ankle monitor: “We are here at the door of the CDP, waiting for the ankle bracelet to arrive. The internal procedures for release have all been successfully executed. Now it is only the ankle bracelet so that Bruno can leave the Caiuá CDP.”
- The Federal Prosecutor’s Office complaint tied to Operação Narco Bet says Buzeira also faces other criminal actions related to drug trafficking, criminal association, money laundering, and illegal gambling. The TRF-3 (Tribunal Regional Federal da 3ª Região) said release came with precautionary measures, but it did not detail them.
- In a statement, the defense team — Jonas Reis, Eugênio Carlo Balliano Malavasi, and Lucas Gabriel Ruivo Ferreira — said it welcomed the habeas corpus decision and argued that the accusations will be addressed in due process. The lawyers said they would not comment further because the case is under judicial secrecy.
- On the substance, the MPF says the group would be a criminal organization dedicated to money laundering, capital flight, and concealment of funds through sports betting companies, international operations, offshore structures, and cryptocurrency transactions. In the filing with the Justiça Federal de Santos, Buzeira is identified as the alleged funder, hidden controller, and ultimate economic beneficiary of the betting brands BRXBET and RICOBET, with the MPF claiming he took part in strategic decisions and operational conduct even though he did not appear in the companies’ corporate records.
For PSPs, acquirers, and banks that still touch betting or crypto-adjacent flows, this is the familiar pattern: the corporate paperwork may look tidy, while the alleged control sits somewhere else entirely, behind offshore entities and transactional layers that only become visible once the prosecutors show up.
