BMM Testlabs wins approval to certify online casino games in New Zealand
BMM Testlabs has received approval to provide online gaming testing and certification services in New Zealand under the country’s new online casino regulatory framework, overseen by the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA). For operators and suppliers, that matters because game certification is one of the gates between a product build and a regulated launch.
- BMM says the approval lets it support New Zealand’s regulated online casino market with independent testing and certification services, helping gaming products meet the country’s technical and regulatory requirements. In practice, that is the layer that turns a game from “ready” into “acceptable for market entry.”
- The company says it has a long-standing track record in New Zealand’s regulated land-based gaming industry, and that it is bringing 45 years of technical expertise and regulatory knowledge to online casino operators and suppliers as the market develops.
- BMM framed the move as an expansion of an existing relationship with the market rather than a fresh entry from nowhere. Kirk White, President of Land-Based Gaming and Inspections at BMM Testlabs, said the company is building on its work with New Zealand’s land-based gaming industry as the country moves toward regulated online casino gaming.
- BMM also pointed to its combination with eCOGRA, saying the two organisations together offer broader technical capabilities, regulatory knowledge and a shared commitment to quality and service across global gaming markets. For high-risk operators, that usually means one more established route for certification work rather than having to assemble pieces from multiple vendors.
The main operational takeaway is simple: as New Zealand’s online casino framework takes shape, certification capacity is becoming part of the market structure, not an afterthought. For PSPs, acquirers and banks touching this vertical, that means technical approval paths are now as relevant as commercial ones.
