MoonPay Adds Discover® Network for U.S. Cardholders Buying Crypto
Payments High Risk

MoonPay now accepts Discover® Network payments for U.S. users, giving Discover cardholders another way to buy and sell crypto across the platform’s network of more than 500 enterprise partners. For PSPs and crypto on-ramps, the point is straightforward: if a payment method has consumer scale in the U.S., MoonPay wants it in the checkout stack.
Discover® Network joins Visa and Mastercard as the third major U.S. card network supported on MoonPay’s onramp, alongside Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Venmo, bank transfers, and regional payment rails.
MoonPay said the new option is available for U.S. users of its platform, and that it covers cardholders buying and selling crypto across its network of more than 500 enterprise partners, including wallets, exchanges, and applications.
The company said it was the first crypto on-ramp to integrate PayPal and Venmo. In practice, MoonPay is using the same playbook here: add the payment methods people already use, then remove checkout friction one option at a time.
Richard Harrison, Vice President of Banking and Payments Partnerships at MoonPay, said every payment method added removes “a reason someone doesn’t convert at checkout,” and described Discover® Network as “the next step” after PayPal and Venmo.
Claudia Schaefer, Vice President of Strategic Client Management for Discover Global Payment Network, said Discover’s goal is to give consumers flexibility to pay when, where, and how they prefer, while helping businesses like MoonPay deliver a “consistently secure and seamless experience” for users.
