Altenar supports Wildz Group’s entry into Finland’s regulated sports betting market

Wildz Group has become the first operator to publicly announce that it has secured an online gaming licence in Finland, with the market set to open in July 2027. For PSPs and sportsbook suppliers, this is one of those clean examples of how a regulated-market launch is built: local licence, market timing, and a technology partner that already knows the operator’s product mix.

  1. Wildz Group, a Malta-based iGaming company, said the Finnish authorisation will allow it to operate when the country’s regulated online gaming market opens in July 2027. It is the first operator to publicly confirm that it has obtained an online gaming licence in Finland.
  2. Altenar has been backing Wildz Group’s expansion since 2024. The partnership has helped the operator move beyond a business model focused mainly on casino products and build out its sports betting offering.
  3. The Finland rollout uses Altenar’s regional experience, Nordic trading specialists, and localised content. That matters in practice because regulated entries are rarely just a licence filing exercise; the sportsbook has to match local market requirements and commercial goals at the same time.
  4. Wildz Group CEO Sam Brown said Altenar has been “fundamental” to the success of its global sports betting offering and expects a strong response in Finland once the market opens. Altenar COO Dinos Stranomitis said entering a new regulated market requires the right technology, flexibility, and a clear understanding of local requirements.
  5. Finland began accepting licence applications on 1 March 2026 as the country moves from a state monopoly to a licensed online gaming model. Altenar says the deal reinforces its strategy of supplying sportsbook technology that helps operators enter regulated markets and adapt their offerings to local rules and long-term commercial targets.
