Play’n GO comments on Brazil’s provisional executive order banning online betting and gaming
Play’n GO has responded to Brazil’s provisional executive order banning online betting and gaming, warning that when regulators lose confidence in responsible gambling, consumers can drift toward unlicensed operators. For licensed PSPs and gambling operators, that is the part that matters: weaker channelisation means less player protection and a harder time keeping volume inside regulated rails.
- In its statement, Play’n GO said Brazil is “a reminder that sustainable growth and public trust are not optional extras” but fundamental to the long-term success of any regulated gambling market.
- The company said that when regulators and policymakers lose confidence that gambling is being offered responsibly, the consequence is often more than tighter regulation. In its words, the real risk is that consumers “drift away from licensed operators altogether.”
- Play’n GO linked that drift to three practical outcomes: weaker channelisation, undermined player protection, and a reduced ability for regulated markets to deliver on the objectives they were created to achieve.
- The comment was issued today in response to the Brazilian Government’s provisional executive order imposing a ban on online betting and gaming in Brazil.
