Turkey’s crackdown on offshore iGaming support networks has led to 600+ more detentions in 6 days

Turkish law enforcement is continuing its operation against people working with offshore iGaming operators targeting Turkey (TR). Over the last 6 days, more than 600 additional people have been detained, bringing the total since September close to 2,000 — a number that matters for anyone handling payments, acquisition, or traffic into the market.

  1. Most of those detained are linked to payment operations, with others tied to social media promotion. In practical terms, that means the focus is not only on the operators themselves, but on the support layer around them: the people moving money and the people helping acquire users.
  2. Detainees are being held in Turkish pre-trial detention facilities or released under judicial control. Authorities are also seizing mobile phones, PCs, and related devices, then checking who contacted whom and how the network was connected.
  3. Legal advice circulating for people connected to offshore iGaming businesses targeting Turkey is unchanged: leave Turkey immediately, do not use Turkish airports for international transit, and do not enter the territory of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

For PSPs, acquirers, and partner banks, the useful read here is simple: if your exposure touches Turkey-facing offshore iGaming, the enforcement risk is not theoretical, and the pressure point is payment-linked infrastructure as much as the operator brand itself.
