SIGA launches Sport Integrity Journal on sports betting integrity in Latin America

The Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) has released a new edition of the Sport Integrity Journal (SIJ) focused on sports betting integrity and the future of integrity frameworks in Latin America. For regulated operators, PSPs, and payment partners, the point is simple: as legal betting markets grow, integrity, AML (anti-money laundering), and regulatory coordination stop being side issues and become part of the operating model.

1. The special edition brings together 24 specialists from seven countries and is framed as one of the most extensive cross-sector reflections yet on the challenges, opportunities, and reforms shaping sports betting integrity in Latin America.
2. Contributors include public authorities, regulators, sports organizations, betting industry representatives, legal and compliance specialists, international experts, media professionals, and other stakeholders from Brazil, Paraguay, Colombia, Argentina, and Ecuador, with additional contributions from Portugal and the United States.
3. The publication draws on first-hand experience from public authorities and regulated markets, plus input from sports bodies including the NFL, CONMEBOL, CBF, the Federação Paulista de Futebol, and the Confederação Brasileira de Voleibol. That mix matters because the integrity conversation in betting is no longer just about odds and markets; it now runs through governance, reporting, and cooperation between operators and sports bodies.
4. Topics covered include the role of public authorities in protecting sporting integrity; AML and international cooperation; different approaches to criminalising competition manipulation; compliance and institutional capacity in regulated markets; operator responsibilities; integrity programs in sports organisations; athlete education and prevention; responsible gambling; media and public perception; financial intelligence; regulatory harmonisation; and legal cooperation in Latin America.
5. SIGA says the publication also underlines the growing role of SIGA LATIN AMERICA as a regional platform for reform, bringing together governments, regulators, the sports movement, industry, and civil society around integrity, transparency, accountability, and cooperation.

For high-risk payment providers, the practical read is clear enough: where sports betting markets are being formalised, integrity policy, AML controls, and cross-border cooperation tend to move closer to the core of licensing and bank-partner discussions, not farther away.
