Altenar will support Wildz Group’s sportsbook launch in Finland when the country’s new licensing regime opens in July 2027. For high-risk operators, the useful part is not the announcement itself but the mechanics: a Malta-based iGaming operator has already secured a licence, and the supplier stack is in place before the market opens.
Wildz Group is the first operator to publicly announce that it has received an online gambling licence in Finland. The licence will allow the company to operate once Finland’s regulated online gambling market opens in July 2027.
Altenar has partnered with Wildz Group since 2024, supporting the operator’s expansion beyond a casino-first model. In this Finland rollout, Altenar will provide sportsbook technology, Nordic trading expertise and localised content.
Wildz Group CEO Sam Brown said Altenar has been central to the success of the company’s global sports betting offering, and that the group expects a strong response in Finland once the market opens. He also said the team plans to use Altenar’s toolkit to build a sports betting experience for Finnish players.
Dinos Stranomitis, COO at Altenar, said entering a new regulated market requires the right technology, flexibility and a clear understanding of local requirements. Altenar framed the Finland deal as part of its broader focus on helping operators enter regulated markets with offerings that can be adapted to local rules and long-term business goals.
Finland is among the latest European countries to move from a state monopoly to a licensing model for online gambling. The application process opened on 1 March 2026, and the market launch is scheduled for July 2027.
