Yellow Card Acquires GoMoney, Launching Direct Operations in Brazil

Yellow Card has completed the acquisition of GoMoney Sociedade Prestadora de Serviços de Ativos Virtuais Ltda. in Brazil, giving it a direct operating setup in one of Latin America’s biggest crypto markets. For PSPs and treasury teams, the practical change is straightforward: local BRL collections and disbursements, including Pix, plus stablecoin settlement through a locally established provider.

  1. Yellow Card said the acquisition was completed in October. GoMoney is a virtual asset service provider in Brazil and has filed for authorization with the Banco Central do Brasil (BCB) to operate under Law No. 14,478/2022 and BCB Resolution No. 519/2025.
  2. For now, GoMoney continues to operate under Brazil’s transitional regime for virtual asset service providers while the BCB reviews its application for full authorization. That means the license file is not the same thing as a final approval, which is the part counterparties usually care about first.
  3. The acquisition establishes Yellow Card’s direct operations in Brazil and expands its Latin America footprint. Yellow Card says the setup will let clients use local collections and disbursements in Brazilian reais, including via Pix, with settlement in stablecoins, all through a locally established provider tied into Yellow Card’s treasury and liquidity services across other markets.
  4. Brazil is not a side note here. According to Chainalysis, the country recorded $252.5 billion in cryptocurrency activity between July 2025 and June 2026, making it Latin America’s largest cryptocurrency market. The same report said stablecoin activity in Brazil increased 495% across its 2024–2026 comparison period, driven in part by cross-border transfers and liquidity management.
  5. GoMoney, founded in 2018, will remain led by its founders as a wholly owned subsidiary of Yellow Card. Maurício Pires, GoMoney’s founder and chief executive, said the business has spent the last eight years focused on using stablecoins for cross-border payments, similar to Yellow Card’s model in Africa and globally.

The acquisition comes after Yellow Card’s August 2026 $40 million financing, which included Standard Chartered Bank and Sony, and follows recent regulatory approvals and registrations in Canada, Switzerland, Nigeria, and Ghana. For market entrants, the signal is pretty clear: Brazil is being treated as an operating market, not just a sales target.
