The 25th NextGen Payments & RegTech Forum Lands in Athens on 14 October 2026

The 25th NextGen Payments & RegTech Forum will take place on 14 October 2026 at the Marriott Hotel in Athens, bringing together senior voices from banking, payments, fintech, regulation and financial services innovation. For high-risk PSPs, the interesting part is the agenda: digital euro, instant payments, AML reform and responsible AI are exactly the topics that tend to turn into policy, product, and compliance decisions.

  1. It is being positioned as one of the leading payments, RegTech and compliance events in Greece, and as a key payments summit in the region. The forum is also described as a leading RegTech conference in Greece, which tells you where the organiser thinks the centre of gravity is: payments infrastructure on one side, controls and regulatory change on the other.
  2. The programme will feature more than 35 industry specialists, with organisations listed from across the stack: Bank of Greece, Hellenic Capital Market Commission, Ministry of Finance Hellenic Republic, National Bank of Greece (NBG), Alpha Bank, Eurobank, Mastercard, Worldline, Revolut, Paysafe Payment Solutions Ltd, Nexi Greece, KPMG Greece, BakerTilly, Euronext Athens, Rakuten Viber, Liberty IT Consulting Group, SysPay, Finductive, Borderli, Hypodome & Loanverse, HarborLab, Digicon Services, Veracloud, Discai, EWC Investments, BoxNow, Moneygate Solutions, Cooperative Bank of Karditsa LLC, ESTIA Payments, Noto360 and National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
  3. The speaker list includes people directly tied to payments controls and execution, such as Alexandros Modakis, Group Deputy AMLCO at Worldline; Dimitris Pierrakos, Head of Payment Systems Management Division at Bank of Greece; and Dimitris Gerostathis, Director, Products and Solutions Lead, Greece, Cyprus & Malta at Mastercard. That mix matters because these forums often surface where operational reality meets policy language, and the gap is usually where PSPs end up spending money.
  4. Other confirmed speakers include Athanasios Daflos of Eurobank, Athanasios Zoidis, a Payments Technology & Digital Transformation Expert and ex DirectPay, Aurelie Voche of SysPay, Andreas Kazamias of Liberty IT Consulting Group, Christos Taratsides of Rakuten Viber, Chara Lontou of Alpha Bank, Damianos Charalampidis of Digicon Services, Despoina Ioanni Ntaikou of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and Dimitris Poutouris of Veracloud. In practice, that means the discussion is not limited to bank policy people; it also includes operators and vendors who have to make the thing work.
  5. The sponsor list includes Veracloud, EWC Investment, MoneyGate, NOTO360, Infocredit Group and Discai. For payment companies and PSPs, sponsorship rosters like this are often as revealing as the agenda, because they show which vendors want visibility around compliance, risk, and payment orchestration conversations in Greece and beyond.

The forum is scheduled at a moment when digital euro, instant payments, AML reform and responsible AI are all moving from conference-panel topics into actual product and compliance work. For high-risk businesses, that is usually the useful part: not the slogans, but the parts where a regulator, a bank, and a PSP end up using the same room to define what can be launched, monitored, or de-risked next.
