OKTO Payments connects directly to Yape for Peru merchants, adding Yape One Shot and Yape On File

OKTO Payments has moved from offering Yape as just another payment method to a direct connection with Peru’s leading digital wallet. For merchants in iGaming, e-commerce, digital content and the creator economy, that usually means fewer intermediaries, better approval performance and cleaner reconciliation.

  1. Through a single API connection, OKTO Payments now offers both Yape payment experiences: Yape One Shot for one-time purchases and Yape On File for returning customers. The first is aimed at lowering checkout friction; the second keeps the wallet linked so repeat payments complete in a single click.
  2. In practice, when a customer selects Yape on a merchant’s website or app, the Yape application opens on the mobile device and the user approves the transaction with one tap. OKTO says this removes extra codes and bank account registration from the flow, which is exactly the sort of small friction that tends to show up as lost conversion.
  3. The Yape network is not small. OKTO says it has 16 million active users, including 7 million who were previously unbanked, and that it is the preferred payment method for more than 5 million local businesses in Peru.
  4. OKTO also says the broader platform in Peru can handle local pay-ins and payouts through one integration, with settlement, treasury and liquidity management, compliance, reconciliation, transaction monitoring and risk management built into the stack. For PSPs and merchants, the point is less “nice dashboard” and more “fewer moving parts to break.”

OKTO frames payments as performance infrastructure rather than a utility, and this integration is a good example of what that means in high-risk verticals: the rail itself becomes part of the conversion strategy, not just the plumbing underneath it.
