Klap and PagBrasil bring PIX payments to Chilean merchants for Brazilian tourists

Klap has partnered with PagBrasil to let Brazilian tourists pay with PIX at all affiliated merchants using the company’s existing terminals in Chile. For PSPs and acquirers, the key point is simple: this is cross-border wallet acceptance embedded directly into the POS flow, with no extra hardware.

  1. The integration will run on the same Klap POS terminals, so merchants do not need additional equipment. To complete a transaction, the customer scans a QR code from their bank app.
  2. Klap says it is the first acquirer in Chile to add PIX directly to its terminals, and the second provider in the country to offer it after Virtual POS introduced the method last year.
  3. The move is aimed at the rise in Brazilian tourism to Chile. Citing Sernatur, Klap said Chile received 681.649 visitors from Brazil during 2025.
  4. Initial adoption will be pushed in hotels, restaurants, retail, tourism, and entertainment businesses, which account for much of that traffic. In other words, this is being positioned where foreign-card acceptance pain tends to show up first.
  5. Ralf Germer, CEO and cofounder of PagBrasil, said more than 93% of Brazilian adults use PIX in daily life. He added that travelers can pay directly from their bank app, see the amount in reais before confirming, and use a payment method that feels familiar abroad.
