Bets Notify Fluminense, São Paulo, Flamengo and Corinthians Over Possible Contract Terminations as Brazil Weighs New Restrictions

Brazil’s betting sponsors are already stress-testing their football deals. Superbet has formally warned Fluminense and São Paulo, while Betano and Esportes da Sorte have put Flamengo and Corinthians on notice, all against the backdrop of a federal provisional measure that could ban or restrict sports betting and online gaming.

1. According to GLOBO, Superbet told Fluminense and São Paulo it may terminate the sponsorship agreements if the provisional measure advances. The company said the next steps will be defined only after the MP is implemented.
2. Fluminense confirmed receipt of the notice. Its master sponsorship deal runs until the end of 2029 and is worth R$ 53 million fixed plus R$ 33 million in bonuses.
3. UOL reported that Flamengo, which has the largest sponsorship contract in Brazilian football at R$ 268.5 million per season, had not yet been officially notified by Betano. Even so, Betano had already contacted the club’s board to discuss the possible consequences of the MP and was pressing Flamengo to take a firmer public position on the issue.
