São Paulo switches master sponsorship from Superbet to Superscore until December amid Brazil’s betting transition

São Paulo FC has moved its master sponsorship from Superbet to Superscore, another company in the same group, until December while Brazil’s new betting rules are still being worked through. For PSPs and sponsors in high-risk verticals, the detail that matters is simple: commercial agreements are being temporarily re-papered to fit a regulatory window that could change again within weeks or months.

  1. São Paulo has a contract with Superbet running until the end of 2030, but the club and the company agreed to change the visible sponsorship arrangement through the end of this year. André Marques, São Paulo’s marketing director, said the club is moving to Superscore, which is responsible for sports statistics and belongs to the same group as Superbet.
  2. The switch was made before São Paulo’s match against Cruzeiro earlier this month. Since then, the branding shown on the shirt has been a sports statistics platform rather than the betting brand itself.
  3. The move comes after Brazil’s Provisional Measure, signed by President Lula on 25 September, which prohibits the operation, offering, brokerage, and advertising of fixed-odds betting in Brazil. The measure also set a transition period for shutting down operations and removing advertising and sponsorship materials.
  4. From Tuesday, websites and apps of the platforms are supposed to become unavailable. The measure still needs approval by the National Congress within 120 days to remain in force permanently.
  5. Marques said São Paulo is one of four clubs, along with Flamengo, Fluminense, and Palmeiras, that extended their master sponsorship arrangements until December while the situation becomes clearer. The club’s 2025 renewal with Superbet runs for six seasons, with a fixed value of R$ 678 million and the potential to reach R$ 1 billion if performance targets in the agreement are met.
