FanDuel names Christian Genetski permanent CEO, with official start set for January 1, 2027

FanDuel is moving Christian Genetski from interim to permanent chief executive officer after nearly six months in the acting role. For PSPs and partners watching the US betting stack, the bigger point is continuity: the company is trying to keep its commercial and regulatory machine moving while prediction markets and VIP-program scrutiny keep the pressure on.

  1. Genetski is slated to take over officially on January 1, 2027. The appointment was reportedly shared with Flutter Entertainment staff in an internal email from group CEO Dan Taylor, but neither Flutter nor FanDuel has confirmed it publicly so far.
  2. Genetski became interim CEO in May 2026 after Amy Howe stepped down. Before that, he was FanDuel president from 2022, and he joined the company in 2015. His earlier roles included chief commercial officer and chief legal officer, which is a fairly neat résumé for a business that lives or dies on commercial execution and regulatory navigation.
  3. Taylor said the appointment would provide leadership stability and let FanDuel continue with its growth plans, according to Front Office Sports. That matters because the company’s US business has been under strain from both competition and performance pressure.
  4. Flutter’s shares have lost nearly 60% so far in 2026, though they have rebounded more than 16% in the past month. Investors have been concerned about competition from prediction markets, while FanDuel has also felt pressure on its US sportsbook operations.
  5. FanDuel has launched its own prediction market product, but the service has already run into regulatory uncertainty. Last week, the company suspended trading on sports, political, and novelty events for users in Utah after authorities brought criminal charges against Kalshi.
  6. The company is also dealing with scrutiny over its VIP customer program. Senator Richard Blumenthal and other lawmakers have questioned the practices used to attract high-value bettors, and the issue intensified after a video surfaced of Bryce Harper recording a Thanksgiving greeting for a FanDuel VIP customer.

The timing also fits a broader leadership reset at Flutter. Taylor became group CEO on October 1, replacing Peter Jackson, and Howe’s departure was announced on 6 May 2026. Flutter is due to release its third-quarter financial results on November 4.
