Chile orders ISPs to block 37 more illegal online gambling domains

Chile has instructed internet providers to block another 37 online gambling sites identified by the Superintendency of Casinos and Games (SCJ). For PSPs and operators, the point is simple: DNS blocking in Chile is no longer a one-off headline, but an enforcement pattern backed by court decisions and a 48-hour compliance clock.

1. Internet providers in Chile must block the domains within 48 hours of notification. The measure covers 37 sites, including domains, subdomains, and mirrors.
2. The SCJ said the blocking action is aligned with decisions from Chile’s Supreme Court and the Santiago Court of Appeals, giving the order a judicial backing rather than treating it as an isolated administrative move.
3. The new list includes Betano, Betsson, Rojabet, Estelarbet, Betcris, Kto Bet, 1xBet, Marathonbet, Betway, Betfair, Betsala, Bet365, Mi Casino, and Sporting Bet.
4. The industry association aPAL criticized the new wave of blocks, saying some of the domains do not fall within the wording of the court decisions. It also pointed back to the larger issue: Chile still does not have a comprehensive online gambling law.

For high-risk payment providers, Chile’s setup matters because it combines site blocking with an unresolved regulatory framework. That is usually the combination that leaves operators exposed and PSPs having to decide, often quickly, whether a merchant can keep processing without becoming the next domain on a blocklist.
