MoneyGram launches global fiat ramps for Solana applications through a single API

MoneyGram has plugged its Ramps service into the Solana blockchain, giving developers a ready-made fiat on-ramp and off-ramp without having to build banking rails themselves. For PSPs and crypto payment teams, the useful bit is obvious: less integration work, fewer direct banking connections, and a distribution network that already spans cash-in and cash-out use cases.

  1. MoneyGram Ramps is now part of the payment module within Solana Developer Platform. The integration lets developers of applications, wallets, and cryptocurrency exchanges access fiat-to-digital-asset conversions through a single API, instead of building their own banking infrastructure or dealing with complex regulatory requirements from scratch.
  2. MoneyGram says its network reaches more than 60 million active customers, operates nearly 500,000 physical locations, and covers more than 200 countries and territories. Through Ramps, developers can accept cash deposits in more than 25 countries and enable cash payouts in more than 170 countries and territories.
  3. The integration includes instant API key issuance, access to a sandbox environment, documentation, and a software development kit (SDK). MoneyGram says the setup does not require a direct connection to banking systems, which is expected to reduce the time needed to launch financial services.
  4. Rift became the first wallet in the Solana ecosystem to integrate the service. Its users can now convert cryptocurrency into local currency and back through MoneyGram’s global network.
  5. Lily Liu, President of the Solana Foundation, said the infrastructure will support globally accessible financial products on Solana, including cross-border money transfer services, stablecoin payouts for remote employees and freelancers with cash withdrawal options, and humanitarian aid distribution in regions with limited access to banking services. Anthony Soohoo, Chairman and CEO of MoneyGram, said the launch marks another step in expanding MoneyGram’s presence in the Solana ecosystem. MoneyGram is also a network partner and serves as a validator, and it continues to expand its use of stablecoin settlement to improve cross-border payments.
