MeridianBet picks Pay4Fun as payment institution for its Brazil operation
Payments High Risk

MeridianBet has selected Pay4Fun to handle payments for its regulated fixed-odds betting business in Brazil. For high-risk operators, the detail that matters is not the logo swap but the infrastructure behind it: a payment institution authorized by the Banco Central do Brasil, with iGaming experience, now sits in the middle of the operator’s local stack.
Under the partnership, Pay4Fun becomes the front line of MeridianBet’s payments structure in Brazil and expands its role with companies authorized to operate in the country’s regulated betting segment. In practice, that means the operator is plugging into a payments provider already positioned inside the local licensing framework.
The deal comes as the Brazilian betting market is consolidating after the regulatory framework entered into force and set specific rules for operators, including requirements tied to payments, user identification, fraud and anti-money laundering controls, and compliance oversight. For PSPs and acquirers, this is the part where “payments” stops being a back-office function and becomes part of the licensing posture.
Pay4Fun says it was the first payment institution active in the betting segment to receive authorization from the Banco Central do Brasil. The company also says it has technology for transaction monitoring, identity validation, and mechanisms aimed at preventing fraud and money laundering, along with compliance processes and 24/7 specialized support.
Leonardo Baptista, CEO and cofounder of Pay4Fun, said the regulation brought “a new level of requirements” for the Brazilian betting market and that operators need partners who understand the sector’s specifics and are prepared to meet the rules. That is the standard high-risk payments pitch, except here it is tied directly to a regulated market that is still being assembled.
MeridianBet is a global sports betting and iGaming operator with activity in several regulated markets and a portfolio that includes sports betting, online casino, and other digital entertainment verticals. In Brazil, the company is part of the group of operators authorized to operate in the regulated fixed-odds betting environment, and says its strategy is to work in regulated jurisdictions with a focus on compliance, security, and long-term sustainability.
