Peru’s Mincetur Blocks 50 More Unlicensed Online Gaming and Sports Betting Platforms

Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) has blocked 50 online gaming and sports betting platforms that were offering services without authorization. For PSPs and operators, the useful part is not the headline number but the enforcement pattern: Peru is actively hitting domains, payment methods, and physical venues under Law No. 31557.

  1. Mincetur said the latest action brings the total number of blocked platforms to 86, out of 157 platforms scheduled to be blocked during 2026. The blocking was carried out by Mincetur’s General Directorate of Casino Games and Slot Machines (DGJCMT) together with the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC).
  2. The enforcement sits under Law No. 31557, which regulates online gaming and remote sports betting in Peru. Mincetur also said its actions have included removing gaming-related content and payment methods tied to websites operating without authorization, which is the part PSPs should pay attention to: the pressure is not only on traffic, but on the payment stack as well.
  3. According to the Ministry, these measures have affected the operational and financial capacity of unauthorized operators and reduced the illegal online gaming offering by more than 50%. Enforcement is happening both online and through in-person inspections across the country.
  4. Mincetur also reported the seizure of equipment used for sports betting at an unauthorized venue in Chilca, in the Junín region. That operation was carried out jointly with the National Police of Peru (PNP) and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, again under Law No. 31557.
  5. To date, the Ministry has ordered the closure of 17 sports betting venues and 10 slot machine halls. It has also carried out 5,195 inspections at casino and slot machine venues, plus 4,572 enforcement actions involving online platforms and betting venues.

On the monitoring side, DGJCMT maintains a database of approximately 2,000 domains collected from lists of websites identified as illegal or unauthorized by authorities in other countries. That gives Mincetur a reference point for investigations in Peru, and it is a reminder that regulators often import enforcement intelligence instead of building everything from scratch.

Under Peru’s Criminal Code, people who promote or participate in illegal gambling activities may face prison sentences ranging from one to four years, in addition to administrative measures. Mincetur also called on the public to report unauthorized sports betting venues, casinos and slot machine establishments.
