Gaming in Germany Conference in Berlin will focus on GGL enforcement powers, offshore competition and new products on November 10

The 2026 Gaming in Germany Conference will take place on November 10 in Berlin, and the agenda is pointed at the stuff that actually matters to operators and suppliers: the 2021 State Gambling Treaty review, possible new product lines, offshore competition, and whether GGL still has the power to enforce the ban on unlicensed igaming after a recent court ruling.

  1. The conference will be held at the DoubleTree Hilton Ku’damm in Berlin, with registration now open and the full agenda and speaker lineup already announced.
  2. The agenda will examine the outcome of the evaluation of the 2021 State Gambling Treaty, along with market opportunities tied to sweepstakes, esports betting and online casino in North Rhine-Westphalia. For high-risk businesses, that combination matters because Germany is not just discussing compliance; it is also discussing whether the product mix itself is about to move.
  3. One of the sharper items on the agenda is offshore competition and how the industry should respond to it. The event will also address the possibility that GGL may have forfeited its right to enforce the prohibition on unlicensed igaming following a court ruling, which is the kind of legal wrinkle that can change how operators assess enforcement risk.
  4. Nadja Wierzejewski, head of enforcement at the GGL, will deliver a keynote on player protection, market realities and effective enforcement. Other speakers include Alexander Müller, member of the executive board, FDP; Melanie Hainzer, market owner – DACH, Play ‘n GO; Dr. Matthias Spitz, senior partner, Melchers Law Firm; Dr. Christian Rapani, partner, Rapani Rechtsanwälte; Hans-Peter Kalenberg, department head, Ministry of the Interior, Nordrhein-Westfalen; Dr. Carsten Bringmann, associate partner, Noerr; and Dr. Joerg Hofmann, senior partner, Melchers Law Firm.
  5. The event is being framed by its organisers as a place where all key stakeholders in Germany’s regulated igaming market will be in the room at once. In practice, that means the conference is set up less like a generic industry meetup and more like a live reading of where Germany’s enforcement and product policy may go next.
