Binance Resumes Limited Withdrawals After Hack, Opens BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, and BNB Transfers First

Binance has reopened withdrawals in a limited set of networks after the breach, starting with BTC, ETH, USDT and USDC on Ethereum, plus BNB, USDT and USDC on BNB Smart Chain. For high-risk merchants and PSPs, the operational detail matters: deposit intake stayed open during the suspension, while withdrawals are being restored in stages based on recent demand.

  1. Binance said it is currently allowing withdrawals of bitcoin, ether, USDT and USDC on the Ethereum network, as well as BNB, USDT and USDC on BNB Smart Chain. The exchange said it will later enable withdrawals across 15 blockchain networks, including Tron, Solana, XRP Ledger, TON, Polygon, Arbitrum, Base and Optimism.
  2. The order of network activation is being determined by demand over the previous week, according to Binance’s announcement. That means the rollback to normal operations is being paced by traffic patterns, not by a blanket all-at-once reopening.
  3. Binance warned users about possible delays in withdrawal processing because of elevated load. If a transfer does not go through, the exchange tells customers to try again later. Deposits remained open during the withdrawal freeze, just as they had before the hack.
  4. The exchange said customer balances in BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD and ZEC are already fully backed 1:1. Binance said the remaining 5% is in less liquid tokens that are harder to source in the required volumes, and that it is buying the missing assets through both exchange and OTC trades.
  5. Earlier, TRM Labs identified the North Korean group TraderTraitor as the organizer of the attack on Binance. The researchers said the hackers may have gained access to transaction-signing infrastructure, which would have allowed crypto assets to be drained from several blockchain networks at once.
