Brazil Police Freeze Up to R$ 102.4 Million in Probe Into Influencer, Illegal Gambling Platforms, and Money Laundering in Mato Grosso

Mato Grosso Civil Police have launched Operação Aposta Final in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande, targeting a digital influencer, her husband, and alleged ties to a criminal faction said to be running illegal online gaming platforms and laundering money. For high-risk PSPs, the important part is simple: the flows were reportedly routed through Pix into two companies not listed among the operators authorized by the Ministry of Finance’s Secretariat of Prizes and Bets.

  1. The operation began on Wednesday (14/10) after a complaint received in August this year flagged possible criminal-faction involvement in promoting online betting platforms and in a money-laundering scheme. The case is being handled by the Organized Crime Combat Unit and the Organized Crime Repression Division (GCCO/DRACO).
  2. According to G1 MT, one of the companies linked to the platforms promoted by the influencer moved more than R$ 102.4 million between 14 May and 12 July 2026. Police say the operation is executing 19 court orders and authorizes the blocking of up to R$ 102.4 million in the suspects’ accounts.
  3. Investigators identified social media posts in which the influencer shared links directing followers to illegal gaming platforms. The financial review showed that user payments made via Pix were sent to two companies that did not appear on the list of operators authorized by the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets of the Ministry of Finance.
  4. Police suspect the companies were being used as a collection-and-redistribution layer for betting proceeds, with a pattern of funds arriving and then being transferred immediately to other accounts. The measures were approved by the Núcleo de Justiça 4.0 of the Juízo das Garantias in Cuiabá.
  5. The investigation also points to asset growth incompatible with the couple’s declared income, including high-value vehicles, a residential property, and travel expenses abroad. The court authorized the seizure of four vehicles: two pickup trucks, one pickup, and one SUV. It also ordered the suspension of the activities of the two companies, the removal of social media profiles, the blocking of a website used to promote betting, and a ban on the influencer creating, accessing, or using digital profiles to promote games and betting.

Three search-and-seizure warrants are being executed at addresses linked to the couple in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande. For payment operators, the usual lesson applies: if a flow is sitting outside the authorized list and moving at speed through Pix, the compliance headache tends to arrive before the headline does.
