Spain extends deadline for comments on draft risky-gambling detection mechanism to 26 October 2026

Spain extends deadline for comments on draft risky-gambling detection mechanism to 26 October 2026

Spain’s Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) has added four calendar days to the second public consultation on its draft resolution for a mechanism to detect risky behaviour among gambling users. For PSPs and operators in regulated gaming, the detail that matters is simple: this is still a live rule-making process, and the consultation window now runs until 26 October 2026.

  1. The new deadline for comments and objections is 26 October 2026, inclusive. Submissions may be sent by email until 23:59 that day.
  2. The consultation covers the second public participation procedure on the draft resolution that would approve a mechanism for detecting risky behaviour by users of gambling services. The DGOJ said the extension is meant to give interested parties more time to review the published documentation and prepare observations.
  3. The extension was adopted by the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) and changes the deadline set in the agreement of 9 October 2026. The authority said the object of the procedure and the other conditions remain unchanged.
  4. Comments and objections should be sent to the Subdirección General de Regulación del Juego at dgoj.sgregulacion@ordenacionjuego.gob.es. The email subject must include: Segundo trámite de participación pública. Mecanismo de detección de comportamientos de riesgo.
  5. The extension applies equally to all people and entities that want to take part in the public consultation. In practice, this keeps the draft in circulation a little longer before Spain closes this stage and moves toward final approval.

For high-risk payment providers and gaming operators, this is the kind of consultation that can shape monitoring, player-risk controls, and the operational load that sits behind them. The market is not getting a finished rule yet; it is getting a slightly longer window to argue over one.
