DAZN Bet launches sportsbook in Ontario and Alberta through Altenar

DAZN Bet has entered two regulated Canadian jurisdictions, Ontario and Alberta, via its long-standing partnership with Altenar. For high-risk operators and PSPs, the point is straightforward: this is another example of a brand using a sportsbook technology partner to move into regulated markets without building the stack in-house.

  1. DAZN Bet has launched its sportsbook in Ontario and Alberta, extending its international expansion into North America through Altenar. The rollout is part of the company’s strategy of entering regulated gambling markets with scalable technology and locally compliant products.
  2. The move follows DAZN Bet’s expansion into Austria and gives the company immediate access to two Canadian provinces that matter for different reasons. Ontario already has one of the continent’s largest regulated online gaming ecosystems, while Alberta has moved forward with a regulated framework for online gambling.
  3. The launch in both provinces at the same time is meant to support DAZN Bet’s international growth plans while keeping the business inside regulated environments. The company says it prefers markets with robust regulatory frameworks and experienced technology partners rather than expansion without local adaptation.
  4. Altenar remains central to that setup. Its sportsbook software supports betting markets, pricing, risk management, customer interfaces and regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions, which is exactly the sort of infrastructure operators turn to when local licensing rules and technical requirements start multiplying.
  5. The broader takeaway for the market is that operators increasingly rely on specialised sportsbook technology providers instead of building the infrastructure internally. In practice, that means the PSP and acquiring layer has to be ready for localised products, different compliance expectations, and the usual fun of multiple regulated jurisdictions at once.
