Noah wins MiCA and PSD2 licences to expand digital asset payments across the EU
Noah has secured a MiCA crypto-asset service provider (CASP) licence and a second Payment Services Directive (PSD2) payment institution (PI) licence, giving it permission to offer regulated digital asset payment services across all 27 EU member states. For high-risk merchants, the point is simple: one regulated provider can now sit between stablecoins and fiat rails without forcing customers to stitch together local banking arrangements.
- The dual approvals let Noah custody, exchange and transfer stablecoins, while also processing fiat payments through credit transfers under a unified regulatory framework. The company said it is positioned to pursue direct access to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) network.
- Noah said the PI licence was granted in approximately one month and the CASP licence in around two months. That pace matters because regulatory timelines are often the part of the stack that decides whether a product ships this quarter or next year.
- With the new EU approvals, Noah says its network now extends to more than 150 markets and 60 currencies. Clients can move between fiat currencies and stablecoins in both directions while using locally compliant payment services.
- The licences sit alongside Noah’s money transmitter licences across the US and its Payment Service Provider registration in Canada. Noah said businesses can submit know-your-customer (KYC) and know-your-business (KYB) information once to access its services, and that its security controls are audited under SOC 2 Type II.
- The company now holds more than 40 licences, registrations and approvals. Noah said that lets businesses launch digital asset payment services across the US, Canada and the EU within weeks, rather than waiting through the months or years that certain authorisations can take.
Noah’s licensing push follows its $16m seed extension, announced on 7 October, which brought total seed funding to $38m. The company said part of that capital will support further regulatory expansion. It also said it added more than 150 customers in 2026 across remittances, FinTech, marketplaces and payroll, with year-to-date revenue up 538% versus the same period in 2025.
