Mastercard is developing Stablecoin Security, a service that scores the risk of stablecoin transactions

Mastercard is building a tool called Stablecoin Security that assesses the risk level of any stablecoin transaction. For banks, merchants, and consumers, the practical point is simple: fewer fraud cases and fewer disputes tied to blockchain payments.

  1. The service is designed to evaluate the risk of stablecoin transactions before they are processed, rather than after the fact. That matters in payments because risk screening is the difference between a controlled flow and a chain of messy chargebacks, fraud reviews, and account headaches.
  2. Mastercard says Stablecoin Security will help banks, consumers, and merchants avoid fraud and dishonest purchases related to blockchain. In other words, it is being positioned as a transaction-level risk filter for stablecoin activity, not just a general compliance layer.
