Visa and Mesh partner to let crypto wallets spend at 175 million merchant locations

Visa and Mesh partner to let crypto wallets spend at 175 million merchant locations

Visa has partnered with crypto payments network Mesh to let consumers spend cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances directly from digital wallets at merchants on Visa’s global network. For high-risk PSPs, the relevant detail is not the branding but the plumbing: users can pay without moving funds to a bank account or issuing a separate crypto card, while merchants stay on their existing checkout setup.

  1. According to Mesh’s Monday announcement, participating wallet users will be able to pay in stores or online using crypto and stablecoin balances. The merchant side does not change: payments are routed through Visa’s existing network, so there is no checkout retooling on the retailer side.
  2. Visa says its network reaches more than 175 million merchant locations across over 200 countries and territories. Mesh said the list of participating wallets, supported devices and launch dates will be announced once rollout plans are finalized.
  3. Mesh will handle transaction funding and the conversion between cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and fiat currencies. Visa payment credentials will be provisioned through participating wallet apps, and Mesh will also manage customer onboarding and Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.
  4. The partnership comes after Mesh integrated with Bybit Pay in September, allowing users to spend directly from exchange balances on supported platforms. In January, Mesh raised $75 million in a Dragonfly-led funding round that valued the company at $1 billion.

For PSPs and acquiring teams, the practical takeaway is that crypto spending is being packaged into familiar card-network rails rather than treated as a separate checkout flow. That usually means the key questions move to wallet support, conversion mechanics, KYC ownership and which jurisdictions are actually included when rollout starts.
