Brazilian Federal Police probe possible business link between Willer Tomaz and Flávio Bolsonaro, with R$ 5 billion betting-linked money laundering inquiry
The Brazilian Federal Police is investigating whether lawyer Willer Tomaz is a partner and financial operator for Flávio Bolsonaro. One of the main tracks in the case also involves suspected money laundering of approximately R$ 5 billion tied to betting, which is the part high-risk payment people will immediately recognize as the payments-and-source-of-funds problem hiding inside a political investigation.
- Investigators are trying to determine the nature of the relationship between Willer Tomaz and Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), including whether Tomaz acted as a kind of financial operator for the senator. Sources cited in the reporting also describe him as Bolsonaro’s “broken femur,” a reference to the potential political damage from the case.
- The Federal Police is examining one of the central leads in the case: suspected money laundering of approximately R$ 5 billion, with possible connections to the betting market, or bets. According to sources, police consider the origin of the funds unclear and are trying to reconstruct the money trail.
- Another line of inquiry focuses on data stored in the cloud linked to a seized mobile phone. The PF is reviewing possible credit card bill payments and possible transactions involving a law firm, looking for evidence that could confirm a corporate or business relationship between Tomaz and Bolsonaro.
- Sources say the case remains on the radar at the Supreme Federal Court (STF) regardless of the presidential election outcome, whether Flávio Bolsonaro wins or Lula is re-elected. In other words, this is not being treated as a file that disappears with the next voting cycle.
- The investigation remains open-ended on enforcement steps: asset freezes and even possible arrest are not ruled out, depending on how the evidence develops. For PSPs and banks, that is the usual reminder that once a case reaches this stage, the money flow itself becomes the story.
