SBC will host a free online debate on Wednesday, October 28, starting at 11h, to discuss the changes and uncertainty now shaping Brazil’s betting sector. For PSPs, operators, affiliates, and sports clubs, the point is straightforward: the regulatory picture has shifted, and the consequences are still being worked through.
The event is titled “Apostas: Além da Narrativa — Entre Fatos, Percepções e Consequências” and is set to run for four hours, including a break and live Q&A sessions. SBC says it chose a single-track format so industry professionals and other attendees can follow the same discussion rather than split into separate blocks.
The summit was called in response to changes that intensified from September 25 in Brazil’s betting and gaming sector. A provisional measure ended operations authorized in Brazil, creating new uncertainty for operators, suppliers, affiliates, payment companies, sports clubs, and marketing professionals.
The planned agenda includes five main topics: how the market got here; legal versus illegal betting; betting risks, the data, and consumer protection; who pays for the crisis; and whether Brazil should regulate or ban betting. SBC says the agenda may still change before the event because developments are moving quickly.
Attendance requires registration through a form to receive the livestream link. SBC also said the full recording will be made available on YouTube after the event for those who cannot watch live.
The organization says the goal is to broaden the debate beyond the industry and bring technical, contextualized, and evidence-based information about the current situation in Brazil’s betting market to the wider public.
