Thailand widens iGaming crackdown with raids, arrests, and payment-agent detention in October 2026

Thai police have stepped up pressure on offshore iGaming-linked infrastructure, with arrests tied to alleged shell companies, bank accounts, advertising, and money laundering across several October 2026 actions. For PSPs and acquiring teams, the useful detail is simple: the enforcement focus is not just on operators, but on the people and entities that keep payments moving.

  1. On 26 October, Thai police said they detained 11 alleged members of the transnational DK Global Group during Operation Dark Empire. The group was accused of setting up shell companies and bank accounts, including for offshore iGaming operators. Thai authorities identified the alleged leader as Malaysian citizen Chia Chun, known as Dave.
  2. On 25 October 2026 at about 08:30, officers from Thailand’s Central Investigation Bureau arrested a payment agent at Krung Thep Aphiwat railway station. Police said the individual worked for the iGaming product W88, which puts payment-side intermediaries directly in the frame.
  3. On 24 October 2026, the Central Investigation Bureau carried out raids at nine addresses in Chonburi province and detained eight people. The charges cited were organizing and promoting illegal online gambling, along with money laundering.
  4. On 22 October 2026, Thai immigration police searched three luxury houses in Bangkok’s Sai Mai district and detained 11 Chinese nationals. Authorities said they were linked to the Hong Guan (HGA) Chinese online gambling network. Among those arrested was a man named Fu, whom Chinese authorities are reportedly seeking in connection with organizing illegal online gambling.

For high-risk payment teams, the pattern matters more than any single arrest: Thai authorities are targeting the banking and operational scaffolding around online gambling, not just the front-end brands. That means shell companies, nominee structures, and payment agents are exactly where the heat is concentrated.
