Mastercard and BVNK Launch Global Money Platform for Fiat and Stablecoin Transactions
Mastercard and BVNK have launched Global Money Platform, a single-API setup that brings fiat currency and stablecoin transactions into one stack. For PSPs, banks, and fintechs, the useful part is obvious: fewer moving pieces for multicurrency accounts, conversion, settlement, payouts, and card issuance.
- Global Money Platform is built as a modular infrastructure layer, so companies can use it end to end or plug in only the parts they need. The platform covers receiving and holding funds, conversion, settlement, and payouts, which means it is not just a stablecoin transfer rail but a broader money-management product.
- The core product is Global Money Account, a multicurrency account that lets users hold fiat currencies and stablecoins at the same time and convert between them through a single API. Mastercard says FinTech platforms will be able to embed these accounts into branded products so users can manage balances, convert assets, and make payouts without stitching together multiple providers.
- Key features include multicurrency accounts, real-time conversion between traditional currencies and stablecoins, local bank payouts through Mastercard Move infrastructure, issuance of payment cards linked to stablecoin balances, and tools for corporate liquidity, treasury operations, and settlements. Mastercard also says the platform can support customizable rewards programs and additional account features.
- Through Mastercard Move, the platform connects to payment infrastructure that supports transfers to more than 17 billion payment endpoints worldwide. Mastercard says users will be able to send payouts directly from stablecoin balances to recipients’ local bank accounts, with funds credited in local currencies. By 2027, Mastercard plans to enable payouts in more than 40 currencies to bank accounts across more than 200 countries and territories using Mastercard Move infrastructure.
- The platform will also support stablecoin payments across Mastercard’s global acceptance network, which includes hundreds of millions of merchant locations. Stablecoin-linked cards will be available for issuance in more than 130 countries. The first companies planning to integrate Global Money Platform are Nuvei, Marqeta, Ontop, Bolt Group, and Almond FinTech.
For corporate users, Mastercard says the setup is designed in part to optimize cross-border cash flow. For high-risk operators and their payment providers, that usually means one thing: more ways to move value across borders, but still inside a card and payout framework that banks and PSPs already understand.
