Yellow Card enters Brazil with GoMoney acquisition

Yellow Card has made its first acquisition in a 10-year history, buying GoMoney, a virtual asset service provider in Brazil, for an undisclosed sum. For high-risk payment teams, the practical takeaway is simple: Yellow Card now has direct Brazilian operations, including local currency collections and disbursements plus stablecoin settlement tied into Pix.

  1. GoMoney, based in São Paulo, lets international businesses accept payments from customers in Brazil, including through Pix, and settle in digital assets. After the deal, it will keep operating as a subsidiary of Yellow Card, with its founders still leading the company.
  2. The acquisition gives Yellow Card a direct presence in Brazil rather than a purely partner-led setup. That matters because the company is adding collections and disbursements in local currency, alongside settlement in stablecoins and direct integration with the national instant payment system Pix.
  3. Brazil becomes part of Yellow Card’s 60+ markets, where it already runs stablecoin payments infrastructure. The company has mainly focused on Africa since launching in 2016, so this is a clear shift from a regionally concentrated footprint to a broader Latin America push.
  4. The purchase follows Yellow Card’s $40 million raise in August, which the company said would support expansion into Latin America and Asia-Pacific. Current investors include SC Ventures, Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital, and Blockchain Capital, among others.
  5. Yellow Card also said its regulatory build-out now includes approvals and registrations in Canada, Switzerland, Nigeria, Ghana, and Zimbabwe. For PSPs and partners, that is the sort of detail that usually matters more than the press-release romance around “expansion.”
