easypaisa Denies Reported Terminations as Pakistan’s Mobile Wallet Crackdown Hits Aggregator Accounts

easypaisa Digital Bank has reportedly fired about 30 employees over perceived irregularities tied to aggregator accounts, but the bank says that is not what happened. For PSPs and merchants watching Pakistan’s mobile wallet ecosystem, the more important point is that the investigation has moved from transaction tracing to internal personnel fallout.

  1. Internal sources told TechJuice that the terminations were linked to aggregator accounts, which act as intermediary channels processing merchant transactions at scale. In this case, several of those accounts allegedly became conduits for illicit financial flows, and employees connected to the irregularities were let go.
  2. The reported exits sit inside a wider federal investigation. The Federal Investigation Agency filed an FIR on September 24, 2026, exposing a Rs119.93 billion online gambling network operating through digital wallets. Investigators traced approximately Rs8.586 billion through five branchless collection accounts alone, with those accounts processing roughly 10.49 million transactions in total.
  3. TechJuice’s earlier reporting said one suspect allegedly created fake websites to test payment integrations, which then allowed the syndicate to bypass compliance checks. The same report said bogus corporate accounts were then connected to offshore gambling platforms, with funds passing through swap accounts at Mobilink Microfinance Bank onward to Faysal Bank and Dubai Islamic Bank.
  4. The pressure has extended beyond easypaisa. TechJuice said six payment intermediary firms experienced processing delays and settlement problems, while dLocal also confirmed it was investigating related issues. JazzCash has also closed over 300 aggregator accounts following FIA notices.
  5. easypaisa, however, categorically denies terminating 30 employees. In its statement to TechJuice, the bank said any employee exits were either “business as usual” under applicable policies or initiated by employees themselves, and it said it maintains governance, compliance, and accountability frameworks. JazzCash has not terminated any employees over similar issues so far, though sources say an internal inquiry is underway.
