Binance cuts ties with crypto platforms under Russia-related sanctions, starting August 7 and August 13

Binance has stopped processing transfers involving a set of crypto platforms that are under EU and US sanctions tied to Russia. For PSPs and crypto payment teams, the useful part is simple: if a counterparty is on the list, the transfer path may be blocked and the wallet review can follow.

  1. From 7 August, Binance stopped transactions with Shelbit and Aban Tether Exchange. From 13 August, it blocked A7 Nigeria, A7 Africa and PilotFinance.
  2. Binance also imposed a full ban on HTX (Huobi), EXMO, Rapira, BitPapa, Exnode, ABCeX, Aifory Pro, WhiteBird, NoOnecrypto, Tradex and Monease.
  3. The exchange said the move was tied to updated regulatory requirements and tighter compliance, aligning its policy with EU and US restrictions. In practice, that means transfers involving the named platforms after the effective date can be blocked.
  4. Binance also said linked wallet addresses will be subject to compliance review and possible fund freezes, which means users may lose the ability to withdraw assets through the main exchange.

For high-risk operators, the operational takeaway is not subtle: if a route depends on exchange-to-exchange flows, sanctions screening now matters at the platform level, not just at the payment rail level. When the bridge is gone, volume does not disappear — it moves, and the remaining gray channels get busier.
