Visa and Mesh to Expand Crypto and Stablecoin Payment Options

Visa has entered into a strategic partnership with Mesh to let cryptocurrency users pay merchants directly from digital wallets, using crypto and stablecoin balances without first moving funds into a bank account or getting a separate crypto card. For PSPs and wallet operators, the interesting part is not the headline feature; it is the single integration point into Visa’s network and the fact that merchants do not need to change their existing acceptance setup.

  1. Mesh says the integration will allow users of cryptocurrency services to spend crypto and stablecoins at merchants that accept Visa, both in physical stores via standard contactless payment terminals and online. Visa payment credentials will be provided in the background, so users do not need to issue or fund a separate card themselves.
  2. For merchants, nothing changes on the acceptance side. They will continue processing standard Visa payments without installing additional equipment or upgrading their point-of-sale systems, which is exactly why these models tend to scale faster than anything that asks merchants to do extra work.
  3. Cryptocurrency platforms connected to Mesh’s infrastructure will be able to reach Visa’s payment network through a single integration. Mesh will handle digital wallet integration, funding source management, asset conversion during transactions, payment program management, user onboarding, customer identification and Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures, as well as transaction processing through Visa’s existing payment infrastructure.
  4. Mesh says more than 200 enterprise clients use its infrastructure. Its network connects hundreds of cryptocurrency wallets, exchanges, and platforms, including Kalshi, Tools for Humanity, Félix Pago, Majority, and KAST. The combined user base of its partner ecosystem reaches hundreds of millions of people.
  5. Bam Azizi, CEO and co-founder of Mesh, said existing ways to use cryptocurrencies for everyday payments require extra steps, while Rubail Birwadker, Visa’s global head of growth, said the partnership is meant to expand the ways digital assets connect with familiar payment tools used by consumers and merchants every day.

The partnership sits inside a broader set of Visa digital-asset experiments. The company previously tested cross-border stablecoin settlements with Lloyds and has continued to add crypto-related payment infrastructure to its stack, which matters for any high-risk operator trying to understand where card rails and digital assets are starting to overlap.
