Ringnet targets Korea stablecoin commerce through existing payment networks

Ringnet targets Korea stablecoin commerce through existing payment networks

Ringnet says it wants to move from being an IT infrastructure specialist into a Blockchain partner for won-based stablecoins, and it is already testing the plumbing. For high-risk payment operators, the interesting bit is not the corporate branding exercise; it is the CPG (Crypto Payment Gateway) work with VITOS, which is meant to let stablecoin payments clear in the back end while looking card-like to the user.

  1. President Lee Jeong-min said Ringnet aims to become an infrastructure company spanning Blockchain technology, virtual asset, stablecoins, digital Shinwon, and next-generation payment platforms. His pitch is simple enough: when the era of won-based stablecoins arrives, Ringnet wants to sit in the middle as a Blockchain infrastructure partner.
  2. Ringnet was established in 2000, when the network division of LS Cable & System became independent, and it was listed on the KOSDAQ market in 2002. The company describes itself as an ICT services and network integration specialist, and it has spent more than 25 years building capabilities in networks, data centers, security, and cloud.
  3. It says those capabilities come from work as a Cisco Gold Partner, plus large-scale deployment and operating experience across domestic and international industries, including public institutions and large corporations. In practical terms, that is the kind of background a payments company would want if it is trying to support a regulated stablecoin stack without the whole thing falling over the first time volumes show up.
  4. Ringnet is now expanding into AI data centers, GPU-based AI infrastructure, next-generation security, and digital platforms based on Blockchain. It is also moving into public digital transformation, virtual asset, and regional economic platforms, which is where the payment angle starts to matter for merchants, PSPs, and infrastructure partners.
  5. Most directly relevant to payments, Ringnet has started joint development of a CPG with VITOS. The CPG is described as an intelligent virtual asset payment solution that automatically processes stablecoin and other virtual asset payments in the back end so users can pay online or offline as easily as with a card, regardless of the Blockchain network used. Ringnet says the final version is complete and that it is accelerating commercialization while running a PoC (Proof of Concept) for the stablecoin payment infrastructure business.

For PSPs and acquiring partners looking at Korea, the key detail is that Ringnet is not talking about a fresh payment rail from scratch. It is talking about stablecoin commerce layered onto existing infrastructure, which is usually where the real integration work, and the real risk controls, live.
