Weekly digest: Pin-UP, crypto exchange risks, and Rosfinmonitoring’s access to NSPK payment data

This week’s roundup from Phr and Phr in CIS covers a few things high-risk PSPs cannot really ignore: a reported scheme involving Pin-UP and Azerbaijan’s ABB, attempts to scrub investigative coverage from search results, fraud risk in crypto exchange flows disguised as betting, and a new data-sharing setup that gives Rosfinmonitoring access to NSPK data.

  1. The digest says it exposed a scheme allegedly used by Pin-UP, via Azerbaijan’s state bank ABB. For operators and payment providers, the point is straightforward: when a gaming brand routes activity through a state-owned bank, the operational and compliance footprint is not just local anymore.
  2. It also says Vadim Gordievsky is working to remove journalistic investigations about him from search engines. For PSPs and acquiring teams, that matters because search suppression campaigns often show up around counterparties that want to control reputational damage before banks do it for them.
  3. The post flags a specific warning for anyone touching crypto: funds can be loaded during exchange transactions under the guise of betting. In practice, that is the sort of flow that can turn a normal-looking deposit into a source-of-funds and transaction-monitoring problem very quickly.
  4. Another item says raids on “Gorbushka” and in Moscow City will not kill shadow crypto exchangers. For risk teams, the operational takeaway is that enforcement action against visible locations does not automatically remove the underlying exchange network.
  5. Finally, the digest says that starting tomorrow, Rosfinmonitoring will gain access to NSPK data, including data on all transactions via SBP, Mir, and the unified QR code. For high-risk payment businesses, that means more transaction visibility at the state level across core domestic rails.

The names here matter because they sit at the intersection of gambling, crypto, and domestic payment infrastructure — exactly the places where PSPs and banks tend to discover, a bit late, that “just processing payments” was never just processing payments.
