Money20/20 USA 2026 spotlights AI agents, stablecoins and fraud controls in Las Vegas

Money20/20 wrapped up on Oct 21 at The Venetian in Las Vegas with ~11,000 attendees from 85+ countries, 3,000+ companies, 450 sponsors and over 600 speakers. For PSPs and high-risk operators, the useful signal was clear: the conversation has moved from “what if” to the plumbing, risk controls and partnerships needed to run payments at scale.

  1. Money20/20 USA focused on four themes: borderless financial architecture, technology as the great equalizer, partnerships as the engine to scale, and the regulatory guardrails needed to build trust. Across over 200 hours of content, the show looked at how innovation is changing payments, banking, commerce and the movement of money worldwide.
  2. Stablecoins and tokenization moved to the center of the agenda. At the Intersection stage, leaders from Citi, Visa, Western Union, Coinbase and Circle discussed how digital assets are reshaping payments, capital markets and 24/7 settlement, with the emphasis shifting from use cases to infrastructure, partnerships and regulatory frameworks for mainstream adoption.
  3. Several announcements showed that shift into implementation. Mesh announced a strategic partnership with Visa to let consumers pay with crypto and stablecoins across Visa’s global acceptance network. Mastercard unveiled Stablecoin Security, which is designed to help financial institutions assess transaction risk before funds move. Thunes and Coinbase also announced a strategic alliance to connect digital asset infrastructure with domestic payment networks worldwide.
  4. Artificial intelligence was framed as more than a back-office tool. Discussions moved into agentic AI, where autonomous systems can execute tasks, make decisions and facilitate transactions. Leaders from Plaid, Perplexity, Wells Fargo, Microsoft and Fiserv discussed its role in financial decision-making, customer experience and business operations, along with the risks that come with deploying these systems at scale.
  5. Fraud prevention and security became the obvious pressure point once AI agents entered the picture. The event highlighted how financial institutions can use AI to detect fraud, automate risk decisions and strengthen customer protection while dealing with new vulnerabilities. Evervault announced Browser Tokens, aimed at letting AI agents and agent-driven browsers complete online purchases without accessing sensitive payment information or credentials.

For high-risk merchants and their PSPs, the practical read-through is not subtle: the industry is now talking about stablecoin rails, AI-driven decisioning and fraud controls in the same breath. That usually means new distribution options, new risk models and, inevitably, new questions for compliance and underwriting.
