ABLE to host betting debate at FGV in São Paulo on October 26, 2026, with Gamewiz support
The Brazilian Institute for Economic Freedom (ABLE), with support from fixed-odds betting operator Gamewiz, will hold the “Observatory of Betting Studies Brazil” on October 26, 2026, at the FGV School of Business Administration in São Paulo. For PSPs and high-risk operators, the useful part is not the event branding; it is the mix of regulation, consumer behavior, odds formation, and risk management that the industry will put on the table.
- ABLE says the observatory is meant to spread research and studies on the betting market and bring together academia, public authorities, civil society, and market participants to support evidence-based regulation. That is the kind of format that tends to shape how policymakers talk about betting before rules are written.
- The program will have four panels: the economic model of bets, behavioral economics and the consumer, evidence-based regulation, and beyond common sense: what the scientific literature says about advertising and gambling addiction. In other words, the event is aimed at the mechanics regulators usually care about: pricing, consumer protection, and the impact of marketing.
- The opening session will feature Luciano Timm, founding partner of CMT Advogados, president of ABLE, and university professor, together with Bruno Palumbo, Country Manager of Gamewiz Brasil. The panelists are set to discuss how odds are formed, how risk is managed, and how taxes are redirected to civil society.
- The second panel will include Cristiano Coelho, behavioral analyst and university professor, and Diógenes Carvalho, Gamewiz Brasil’s Director of Marketing Compliance and Consumer Relations, who is also a university professor. They will look at behavioral economics, from why people bet to the responsible gaming mechanisms that affect bettor choices.
- The third panel will bring together Pietro Cardia Lorenzoni, founding partner of Cardia and university professor, and Jacqueline Salmen Raffoul, partner in the economic regulation practice at CMT Advogados and Doctor of Law, to analyze Provisional Measure No. 1,394/2026 and its effects beyond the betting sector. The final presentation will cover research by Professor Dr. Lilian Carvalho of FGV-EAESP on advertising and gambling addiction.
ABLE describes itself as a civil, non-profit institute created to develop research and promote economic freedom. Gamewiz Brasil is a subsidiary of Gamewiz LLC, a fixed-odds betting operator authorized by Portarias SP.
