Bet365 Launches Dedicated Sportsbook in Washington, D.C. Ahead of NFL Kickoff

bet365 has officially launched in Washington, D.C., giving the operator a 19th U.S. jurisdiction and another foothold in North America. For payment providers, the point is simple: every new regulated sportsbook launch means another market, another acquiring setup, and another layer of local compliance to keep aligned.

  1. According to the company, the Washington, D.C. rollout went live on Tuesday through a multi-year partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment. That deal gives bet365 access to the Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards, and Washington Mystics brands and logos, which matters because the sportsbook is not just entering a market — it is entering it with team-level distribution and broadcast visibility.
  2. The partnership also covers integration with Monumental Sports Network and team broadcasts. bet365 already has ties across multiple sports leagues and associations, including the NHL, the NBA, and the WNBA, so this launch extends a commercial model the company is clearly leaning on as it keeps building its U.S. footprint.
  3. Trip Stoddard, bet365 head of development, said: “Bringing bet365 to our nation’s capital expands our reach in the U.S. and establishes our presence in one of the country’s most dynamic sports markets.” In practice, that means D.C. is now part of bet365’s North American expansion plan, even as the company has announced more than 340 job cuts.
  4. The timing is not accidental. The launch lands just before the NFL season kicks off on Wednesday, September 9, with the Seattle Seahawks vs the New England Patriots. For sportsbook operators, NFL opening week is when traffic, deposits, and acquisition costs all tend to get more interesting at the same time.
  5. bet365 is offering more than 100 sports, plus a “Bet $10 and Get $50 in Bonus Bets” promotion and its Early Payout Offer, which lets gamblers cash out winning bets earlier. The operator also entered Michigan in April and launched in West Virginia in September, so Washington, D.C. is the latest stop in a broader U.S. rollout.
