Yandex shares rise 4% after partial recovery of Yandex Pay and free cloud services through October

Yandex stock climbed on the Moscow Exchange after the company said Yandex Pay had partially restored operations and Yandex Cloud and Yandex 360 would be free for users until the end of October. For payment and infrastructure operators, the point is simple: when data centers go offline, the damage is not just technical — it quickly turns into payment interruptions, reserve costs, and a higher risk premium.

  1. On 13 October, Yandex shares rose 4.5% to 3522.5 rubles on the Moscow Exchange, before the gain slowed to 4.1% by 13:34 Moscow time.
  2. The move followed a partial restoration of Yandex Pay. According to Dmitry Pirogov, head of Yandex’s fintech division, access to payments and transfers has been fully restored for some users, while some functions remain unavailable and errors may still occur in certain operations.
  3. Yandex Pay also announced special terms for savings accounts and loan repayments from 11 to 17 October.
  4. Yandex then said it would make Yandex Cloud and Yandex 360 free until the end of October. The company said its services were still operating with restrictions and that engineers were carrying out recovery work.
  5. Between 8 and 11 October, Ukrainian drones attacked three Yandex data centers in Sasovo in the Ryazan region, Kaluga, and Vladimir. No one was injured, but data center operations were disrupted, and outages spread to services using Yandex infrastructure, including Kinopoisk, M.Video, Cian and others.

From 8 October to the close of trading on 12 October, Yandex shares fell 8.8%. Finam analyst Dmitry Lozovoy said the scale of the problem turned out to be much more serious than it first appeared, and warned that if attacks on Yandex infrastructure continue, the company will need to spend more on redundancy and security, while the market may start pricing in a higher risk premium.
