Bitget adds Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus to its blacklist, blocking new trading from October 18

Bitget has updated its user agreement to bar residents of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus from using the platform. For high-risk crypto businesses, the practical point is obvious: access rules can change first in the terms, then in notifications, and then in the actual account controls.

  1. According to Interfax, the changes appeared in Bitget’s user agreement on October 16. From 10:00 Moscow time on October 18, new trades, orders, and subscriptions will become unavailable for users from Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.
  2. Bitget told affected users to close all positions and withdraw assets by 10:00 Moscow time on October 21. Any remaining positions after that deadline will be closed automatically.
  3. From 10:00 Moscow time on October 21, account login will be restricted. Bitget said affected users will receive personal notifications by email, in-app messages, and/or push notifications, with the next steps, deadlines, and withdrawal procedure.
  4. In the original statement circulated on social media, Bitget did not name the users who would lose access. The company said only that this was a one-time measure affecting “certain users” and that Bitget would continue operating in the global space.
  5. Industry sites reported that the restrictions appeared first on October 16 in the main English-language version of Bitget’s rules. The same day, users also began reporting notifications from the platform.
