Prediction markets and AI are pushing into the betting stack
Payments High Risk

At a recent discussion, CODERE México CEO Aviv Sher and Evenbeter COO Jeremy Groves sketched the same basic picture from different angles: prediction markets are pulling in younger users, sports betting is still behaving like sports betting, and AI is heading toward the front end of the product. For high-risk operators and PSPs, the useful part is not the rhetoric; it is the mechanics of how user acquisition, product design, and regulation may start to overlap.
Prediction markets are attracting new user profiles, especially Gen Z and Generation Y, because the experience is simpler and faster than traditional betting flows. Sher said part of the growth comes from the regulatory environment and part from “a good product” that users are looking for.
Sher’s read is that prediction markets and sports books may gradually converge, with regulation shaping how that happens. His line was blunt enough: “I think at some point we will meet in the middle.”
Groves argued the two products still serve different behavior patterns. Prediction markets fit users who want quick resolutions, such as the temperature or the price of Bitcoin over the next 15 minutes, while sports bettors may spend days studying an event like the NFL before placing a wager that settles six days later.
On paper, both models are in the same broad gambling neighborhood; in practice, they are not selling the same thing to the same customer. That matters for operators thinking about product mix, onboarding, and how to frame risk to payment partners who do not enjoy surprises.
The next interface layer may be conversational. Sher said WhatsApp, Messenger, and AI will increasingly sit at the core of the business, but he also flagged the obvious catch: betting operators are heavily regulated, and a simple conversation does not automatically create the evidence trail needed to prove what the user actually placed.
